Harder Photography - creative fine art portraits and artistic commercial photography in Barrie Ontario

In 1875 Claus Christian Theodor Harder, a painter by profession, exchanged brushes and oil-paint for film and camera. He opened the first Harder Photography Studio in Hennstedt Germany. Since then a dozen of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Gerd's grandfather and father have followed in his steps operating their own studios in Germany, Italy, Canada and USA.

Dania has always loved the arts. She graduated from Concordia University in Montreal with a "Bachelor in Fine Arts". Her prints have hung in several exhibitions and galleries in Canada.

Since a number of years, she has found her specialty in photographing children. Her goal is to bring out the best in every child during each of her portrait sessions as well as to make it memorable for them. Some of her other work includes portraiture of families, mother and child, moms to be and last but not least beloved pets.

FINE ART PORTRAITURE AND COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHY BY DANIA & GERD HARDER


	Starting at a young age Gerd Harder began photographing in his parent's studio. He is an experienced fourth generation veteran in his trade from a family owned and operated studio since 1875. He has won many Trophies, Prizes and Awards with his work. His photographs are exhibited in the Permanent Exhibition of the PPOC (Professional Photographers of Canada). Kodak also has honored him with five"GALLERY AWARDS" in recognition of photographic Excellence and Fuji with a "MASTERPIECE AWARD". In 2004 and in 2005 again he received the "PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR" award of the Professional Photographers of America Association. Gerd's peers in Florida named him twice one of the " TOP TEN FLORIDA PHOTOGRAPHERS ". Gerd Harder started his photographic career in Munich, Germany. In 1981 he immigrated to Montreal Canada, where he operated a portrait studio for many years. In the late nineties he teamed up with his wife Dania who specializes on children photography and together they moved their studio near Orlando, Florida. In 2006 they decided to return to Canada to the Toronto area. Gerd is looking forward to again pick up his old passion for landscape photography in the great Canadian outdoors and fine art photography. In his portraiture he will focus on combining his expertise in landscape photography with outdoor portraits of families, individuals, kids etc. He will still offer studio work but concentrate on photographing his clients at their home, cottage up north or in one of the many beautiful northern scenics. On the commercial side he enjoys working in illustrative photography accompanied by the complementing digital artwork. You can find examples of his work in beauty and glamour, scenics, model portfolios and record labels. Gerd is available for assignment locally and abroad.
